Ketchikan, Alaska
Millie and I had the awesome experience to go to age group championships in Ketchikan, Alalska. I fell in love with the place right away. It is an Island 600 miles from Seattle. It took a very long very bumpy plane ride to get there. We drove six hours to Anchorage and then flew from Anchorage to Juneau, then St Petersburg, then Wrangle and finally Ketchikan. Ketchikan is a very hilly island and the hill goes right to the ocean. The whole coast of the island are buildings on stilts. We stayed on Creek street which is a board walk street that goes into the ocean. I was warned by John and Julie that it rains horizontally in Ketchikan and it did the night we got there. Every other day was a pleasant and calm mist. My skin was happy immediately. Millie did a great job swimming and enjoyed the experience. This event was essentially the "state" swimming meet for those fourteen years and younger. You have to qualify for times to compete in the meet.
